Fazana! With the sound of heartbeats in the nest of stone it is proud of its fishing tradition and the atmosphere where already with the first handshake each guest becomes a neighbor and friend, part of a large family! Fazana, the town situated in the vicinity of classical Pula, the port of departure for the Brijuni Islands - the national park with the attributes of "Heaven on Earth" - with its beaches, pine woods, waterfront promenades, restaurants along the sea is the perfect place for rest and recreation. The enchantment that the poet and film director Pier Paolo Pasolini once felt is part of the spontaneity of life, famed hospitality and hearty welcome!
From Fazana to Valbandon and back - all along the waterfront - and also to Pineta: this is an ideal setting for a lovely walk accompanied by the sound of waves and the soft whisper of Fazana’s calm sea. In Fazana you must peek into the labyrinth of small squares and streets, hear the rhythm of everyday life blending with the sweet smells from the kitchen.
Fazana, the meeting place of guests, friends from all over the world has preserved the distinctive features of setting and local tradition. The fruits of the fertile red Istrian soil are just as important as those from the sea, so the festivals, celebrations and other events are always a great opportunity to taste the nature’s bounty.
First of all pilchards! This wonderful oily fish that can be prepared in over 100 ways, with a taste of olive oil and accompanied by a glass of homemade wine is just one of the many delicacies. And then fish stew brodetto with different kinds of seafood, homemade maneštre, pasta and roast meat! Traditional sweet dishes fritule, kroštule and cukerančići add a special flavor to the palate, just like the song has a special meaning for the soul. The most characteristic wines are definitely Malvasia and Teran stored in the local wine cellars. A typical specialty is Istrian soup (istarska supa), red wine with toasted bread, olive oil and sugar - wine served as food and prepared in a fireplace. Such a delicacy, both food and drink, is served in an ornamented majolica jug (bukaleta); the bread is taken out separately with a spoon and eaten, whereas the wine is drunk from the "bukaleta" which is passed around.
Owing to great natural beauties and hospitality of locals, Fazana is always cherished as a dear memory. Just a few paces from the sweet music of waves and sand, accommodation is provided in private apartments and high quality campsites, hotel and tourist village apartments.
