stria is a homeland of many sorts of high quality trade mark wines, and they differ by colour, flavour, bouquet. People who lived here before Christ used to grow vineyard. In County museum in Porec there is a stone relief showing two vine-stocks, a grape picker and grapes (year 75 before Christ). We also have an Institute for agriculture and tourism with more than a century's tradition. Most famous Istrian white wines are malvazija andpinot, redmerlot, borgonja, teran, caber-net sauvignon and desert wines muskat and dry malvazija.
Wine and gastronomy

You must know what to drink, too. In time a tradition has been set of what to drink with certain types of food. Every good sort of Istrian wine goes perfectly with a particular dish. Cabemet agrees to a sheep cheese. Refosk will be served with smoked ham omiet, andpinot will add to a flavour of the crab salad, shrimp in sauce, oysters or fuzi with truffles. Chicken stew, manestra, grilled fish will ask for malvazija. Meat prepared traditionally under cripnja, or brodet should be accompanied by borgonja. Merlot goes perfectly with cheese, grilled ombolo, forest asparagus omiet and rabbit stew with njoki. After prsut (smoked ham), grilled Istrian sausages, orpasutice with anchovies you will need Teran. Muskat is recommended with sweets.
