GRACISCE - PICAN - protected landscape (1973.)

The magnificent view spreading from these two medieval towns settled on the hilltops circles almost the whole of Central Istria. The towns are coupled (or divided) by a protected landscape of 570 ha. of appealing features.
The diversified ground foundation - marl and limestone - has caused a phenomenon of unusually indented landscape: the brook banks have been formed within the marly rocks, while gentle hills with their tops having been built of limestone dominate the scenery. The harmony of agricultural surfaces and autochthonal forest vegetation has been interlaced with the addition of numerous cultural-historical monuments of typical architecture of the region. The whole area of this landscape has been crossed by an interestingly designed rambling foothpath.
