Premantura peninsula, the southernmost part of
Istrian peninsula, has been well indented having a long coastal
borders. A worthy landscape of the Kamenjak cape consists of
groups of macchia, pinetree woods and ploughland - agricultural
surfaces placed where the soil was deeper than usually.The views
from a few points on the peninsula are more than attractive:
giving a strong impression of beeing sensationaly seawraped
although still standing on the grounds.
Lots of people come over here for sunbathing and swimming during
the summer.

According to the Kopen-Thornwait classification, the
Premantura peninsula belongs to a warm, rainfall moderated,
subhumid climate, marked as Cfsax. The database from the nearest
meteorological station in Pula shows the summer (June, July,
August) mean air temperature of 22.4°C. The highest amount of
sunshine belongs to July (13.5), the lowest to December (4
approximately). The moisture amounts to 83-84 % during the fall
(October, November) and the first winter month (December). The
lowest amount of relative monthly moisture limits from 66-83 %.
The average annual rainfall quantity is 796 mm. The rainfalls are
most frequent from October till December, while less frequent
from May to August.
The most significant winds are bura (from the northeast), jugo
(south, warm wind) and maestral (summer breeze from land to the
sea).The summer winds mostly belong to N and NW quadrant, the
winter ones to NE quadrant.

The pedological aspect of soil foundation is characterized by
red and brown soil on a sedimentary limestone.
The flora of Premantura is represented by garrigue associations,
and by associations of macchia of holm oak (As. Orno-quercetum
ilicis H-ić 1958) in minority.
Typical species are Rock-Roses (Cistus villosus L, C.
monspeliensis L, C. salviaefolius L.) and Erica Tree (Erica
arborea L.) plants dependant on lots of light and then,
barberry trees (Spartium junceum L.), juniper trees (Juniperus
oxycedrus ssp. macrocarpa L.) and medicinal
garden-sage (Salvia officinalis L.), all designing
beautiful sceneries with a peculiar scent.
Aleppo pinetrees (Pinus halepensis Mill.) and
umbrella-pine specimens (Pinus pinea L.) represent brought
in vegetation.
The richness of the Premantura peninsula includes also Anthemis
tomentosa L. thus being the northernmost area of the species
and Convolvulus lineatus L. that was found in 1993 as its
second Croatian habitat.
For the exceptional particularity of vegetation, the area of
Premantura peninsula was proclaimed the protected landscape.
