peninsula. Admistratively, it is the county seat of the Istria, with the status of a City.
The Pazin coat of arms consists of a shield and the tower of the local castle.
Approximately 5.300 inhabitants live in Pazin today. The terrain, characterized by
numerous hills and ravines, has affected the traffic system, the dispersion of the
settlements and their appearance. The main traffic route through Pazin connects the
eastern and western coasts of Istria. The southward route through Pazin leads toward Pula.
The geomorphic characteristics and the central position in Istria affect the climatic
conditions. Winters are generally wet and severe, with considerable precipitation, while
