The Rovinj Aquarium

info09.gif (4506 bytes)At this 100-year-old institution, located at the "Ruder Boskovic"Institute's Centre for Maritime Research (obala G. Paliage 5), one can admire all the wealth of the fauna of the Adriatic seabed. During the summer months the Aquarium is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Rovinj music scene

info05.gif (2264 bytes)"Aria da nuoto" and "the bitinada", two types of folksinging typical of the Rovinj region, have found unbeatable interpreters in the bands that perform annually at "the Rovinj Summer festival", "the Appuntamenti Rovignesi" and the Rovinj Fiesta.

The Rovinj regattes

Every year Rovinj hosts some interesting regattas, the traditional ones are Pesaro - Rovinj - Pesaro and Rovinj Cup.

Hunting

The local hunt club organises hunting in an area of approx. 4300 hectares. Commercial small - game hunting for foreign hunters is organised during the October-to-March period  (pheasant, partridge, hare, etc.) Hunting  for snipe, which migrate to this region in early November, is especially exciting. Healthcare  for Tourists

All tourists are entitled to info03.gif (1781 bytes)FIRST AID ASSISTANCE. On the basis of the medical insurance  certificate issued by national health insurance institutions of the foreign countries, branchoffice of the Croatian National Health Insurance (Ispostava Hrvatskog zavod za zdravstveno osiguranje) or Tourist first aid (Turisticka Ambulance) issue the patient's record (asc for "bolesnicki list"). Tourists from Bulgaria, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Great Britain can get medical assistance on the basis of their passports, and guests from Slovenia on the basis of their stamped health insurance cards. AIDS INFORMATION
For any information please contact a doctor at the Health Centre or at the Hygiene and Epidemiological Service. The Rovinj Medical Authority has introduced preventive measures for protection from this disease. The ELIS test can be taked on demand.

    Travel documents: to enter Croatian foreign tourists must produce eitheinfo08.gif (4255 bytes)r a valid passaport or some other  document confirmed valid for such purposses by international agreement.The citizens of the Republic of Slovenia may enter provided with a valid indentity card only. A foreign citizen without a valid  passaport, coming to Croatia on holidays or for business, will be issued free border passes (parmits) on the basis of their  identifications documents by the border police. The border pass is valid three monhts.

  • What can be taken out of Croatian
    Without a customs declaration a foreign national may take out of Croatia only goods purchased for personal use. Objects of archaeological, historic, ethnographic and scentific value,and works of art can be taken out of the country only with the permission of the appropriate Government bodies.

..at sea

  • Important information for boat owners
    The use of motor boatsinfo06.gif (1680 bytes) and speedboats less thann 300 metres speedboats less than 300 meters from the coast is forbidden! Watch out for bathers. Violation of this regulation can result in fatal accidents!
    - Enquire about weather conditions every time before setting sail. If the weather forecast is not good, stay ashore!
    - - not sea sail without a sitably - sized anchor with a line at least 50 meters long.
    - If you prick yourself on a fish, immediately squeeze the blood out of the wound and keep it immersed in hot water. Seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
    - DEPLETION OF DATE - SHELLS IS BANNED IN CROATIA.

  • Sailing permits
    - All yachtsmen are required to obtain a permit from the Rovinj Harbourmaster's Office, tel. 00385 52 811-132.
    - The permit is issued on arrival by sea or by land.
    - The permit is issued for a period of one year.
    - In hard currency termis, the price of the sailing permit will stay roughly at the 1997 level.

Diving

- No special permiinfo01.gif (1751 bytes)t is required for snnorkeling and scuba diving, but for safety reasons it is necessary to trail a buoy behind  when diving. Diving is allowed all year round from sunrise to sunset. Divers are allowed to take photograps  but  must not remove anything from the seabed.
- DIVING IS FORBIDDEN IN HARBORS, ON NAVIGATION ROUTES AND IN THE  "BARON GAUTSCH" WRECK AREA, 500 METERS IN DIAMETER.
