Since 1990. the small town of Umag in Croatia, has been known

as the first ATP Tour Tournament in Eastern and Middle Europe, and also the first Croatian ATP Tour Tournament.
The 12th Edition of this Tournament was honoured by the "ATP Tour award of Excellence", nominating this tournament as an example of excellent organisation.
Throughout the past ten years the tournament has gathered tennis players ranked in the Top Ten, helping put Croatia, Istra and Umag in the centre of domestic and international sport scene. Following are the players and their respective rankings that have participated in the Tournament:

A month before the start of the Tournament, every year Tournament press conference is held in the Hotel Inter-continental in Zagreb, with the most eminent Croatian and international sportsmen, business people and journalists.
Some 150 news reporters from prominent TV, radio, newspapers and other similar organisations mainly from Croatia, Italy, Germany and Austria cover the Event. Tournament newspapers “Daily News” fulfil media coverage even more powerful.
Besides a week

long broadcast on the Croatian main TV station (26 hours with 5,5 millions viewers), Eurosport and TV Slovenia cover the semi finals and the final match ( Eurosport coverage 1 hour, 52 minutes; audience 657.000 viewers). As a part of the ATP Tour magazine Eurosport broadcasts in 18 countries a 15 minutes summary of the event ( total coverage 16 hours and 5 million viewers around the world ).
Croatia Open's official website (
www.croatiaopen.hr ) with interesting materials such as Real time player, prize winning contests and sponsor presentations, gets 96.000 hits during the event, predominately from Croatian, German, Italian and Slovenian visitors. According to official data, 23.000 viewers attend the Tournament, and 60,000 people visits the sight.
