The Romans chose Istria as their luxurious summer residence. Umag (Umacus) was the prestigious address for Roman nobles. Idyllically situated around a horse-shoe bay, it still offers optimum comfort and protection for its inhabitants and visitors.
With its beautiful strand, the town is a favourite bathing resort. The old town center with its medieval alleys and sunny squares is a particular attraction. Venecian houses interruupt the medieval architecture.
The Marina, a symbol for the new, modern Umag dominates the townscape at the seafront.
